The PBBY is a private, nonstock, nonprofit organization committed to the development of children's literature in the Philippines. The PBBY is the lead agency in the celebration of National Children's Book Day (NCBD).

Salanga Prize
An annual competition on the best stories written for children in either English or Filipino. Named to honor the memory of Alfrredo Navarro Salanga, it is a benchmark of achievement for writers in the Philippine children’s literature industry.

Alcala Prize
The Alcala Prize is awarded to outstanding illustrators who are able to capture the heart and youthful charm of the Salanga prize-winning stories. Named in honor of Larry Alcala, it has opened a lot of doors for visual storytellers.

Wordless Book Prize
A wordless book, as its name suggests, relies solely on pictures to tell a story. Recognizing the dearth of local wordless children’s books, the PBBY established the first Wordless Picture Book Prize in the Philippines.

National Children's Book Awards
The National Children’s Book Awards (NCBA) is the country’s premiere award for locally published children’s and young adult books. A board of experts is convened to evaluate titles published in a two-year period.
