Contest Rules

Deadline: April 30, 2025

1. The contest is open to all Filipino citizens except those who are related to any PBBY member up to the third degree of consanguinity.

2. All entries must be original, unpublished illustrations that have not won in any previous contest.

3. Entries may be collaborative, meaning a visual artist may collaborate with a writer to come up with the narrative for the entry.

4. Each entry should comprise the following:
   a. A detailed storyboard of the whole story in line drawing (grayscale).
   b. Three (3) artworks rendered in the intended style and medium, and in the actual size format:

   • One (1) spread - beginning of the story

   • One (1) spread - middle of the story

   • One (1) spread - end of the story

   Entries may be in color or in black and white. These may be digitally rendered or traditionally done artwork that may or may not have been digitally enhanced. Any work created or modified by AI (artificial intelligence) not be accepted.

5. Entries should be in actual size format. The recommended spread sizes are:

   • 13 x 6.5 inches for a board book

   • 14 x 9 inches for a picture book

6. Filenames should be as follows:

   • Beginning spread filename: 2025DEJESUS_PenName_01

   • Middle spread filename: 2025DEJESUS_PenName_02

   • End spread filename: 2025DEJESUS_PenName_03

   Failure to observe file naming rules may affect the judgment of entry.

7. The submission format should be in PDF, JPEG, or PNG, with a resolution of 150 dpi or higher.

8. Entries should not contain any words, names, pen names, or signatures.

9. A contestant may send in more than one (1) entry.

10. Together with each entry, contestants must submit their full name, address, contact numbers and a short literary background, and a statement from the author, vouching for the originality of the entry and for the freedom of the organizers from any liability arising from the infringement of copyright in case of publication, and affirming that the entry or any variant thereof has (a) never been published and is currently not for consideration in any publication nor (b) won any other contest i.e. that it has never won 1st, 2nd, 3rd, honorable mention in any other contest or otherwise been awarded a medal, a citation, or included in a publicized list of meritorious entries. If the entry is collaborative, complete information should be provided for both contestants.

11. The PBBY reserves the right of first refusal for the publication of all winning entries.

12. Winners will be announced no later than June 30, 2025.
