PBBY-Alcala Prize: Sophia Lorraine Demanawa

Awarded at the 34th National Children’s Book Day celebration on July 18, 2017 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The 2017 Alcala Prize was awarded to art student Sophia Lorraine Demanawa, from the Ateneo De Manila University. Demanawa studied Information Design and is an active member of Blue Indie Komiks (BLINK). She earned the judges’ unanimous vote for her fresh and sensitive portrayal of Genaro Gojo Cruz’s story “Dalawa Kami ni Lola” which won the 2017 PBBY-Salanga Prize.

Dalawa Kami ni Lola was published in 2018 by Lampara Books.
