PBBY-Alcala Prize: Ara Villena

Awarded at the 35th National Children’s Book Day celebration held on July 17, 2018 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The 2018 PBBY-Alcala Prize was awarded to Arade Louise P. Villena, an art director and a member of Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK). Through her deft use of light, color, and composition, Ms. Villena captured the emotional landscape of Becky Bravo’s story “May Alaga Akong Bakulaw,” winner of the 2018 PBBY-Salanga Prize.

May Alaga akong Bakulaw was published in 2019 by Adarna House.
