Awarded at the 36th National Children’s Book Day celebration on July 16, 2019 held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

Adrian C. Panadero, a graphic designer at And A Half Design Studio, won the 2019 Alcala Prize for his illustrations for “A Delicate Strength: The Story and Art of Araceli Limcaco Dans” by Gabriela Lee.

Araceli Limcaco Dans is one of the most influential Filipino visual artists, known for her her portraiture, still life, and her depiction of calado embroidery in her paintings.

“A Delicate Strength” was published in 2020 as Cely’s Crocodile: The Art and Story of Araceli Limcaco Dans by Tahanan Books for Young Readers.
